Crazy News! Adding a New Team Member!

After we finished our first post, we got the news that our team would be changing.  First off, we all started going crazy because we don't like change.  Teachers never do even though we go through it all the time.  The first piece of news is that Mrs. C, is no longer going to be teaching second grade with us.  Boo!  Sad faces all around.  However, she will be the ESL coordinator for our district so she will still be working with us!  Yay!  Back to happy faces. She will stay on the blog to add some great ESL hints and tricks.

So now we have a new teacher on our second grade team.  After meeting her and working with her, we have decided she will be an awesome teammate so now we are excited again.  So here is an introduction to the lovely Mrs. M:

Hello there! I'm Mrs. M and here are a few things about myself.  This will be my first year teaching 2nd grade and I am beyond excited to get started!  I have a passion for learning and I want to share that with others.  In my past experiences I have been a substitute teacher, after-school care staff, and an instructional aide.  I've been married to Mr. M for 5 years and we have 2 adventurous little ones ages 3 and 7.  We also have 2 dogs named Lacie and Rayne.

So there you have it.  All four of us have wonderful families with children and dogs!  We will be back soon with some classroom tours.

Meet the Teachers

We teach in the smallest district in the area where we live.  Our district has a very unique set of students, families and issues.  However, all three of us love working in our little district and love the differences.  Last year was our first year working as a team in second grade.  WE WERE AWESOME!  (At least we think we were.)  We are excited and working hard to make changes and improvements for the year to come.  Working together as a team has made a huge difference in the way we teach and the unity of our grade level.

Throughout the school year, we will post pictures, stories and ideas we have used or are using in the classroom.  We will start with a classroom tour from each of our classrooms before school starts.  We hope our posts will help other teachers as much as some teacher/classroom blogs have helped us.

Mrs. C:
Hey Hey! I am Mrs. C and I'd love to tell you a few things about myself.  I am beginning my 11th year teaching and I have loved every minute of it.  My passion is teaching young minds to read, write and think critically for themselves.  I absolutely love anything related to curriculum development and feel that it is always changing and that is ok! I have been married to my best friend for 18 years. T is always very supportive of my crazy ideas and projects! We have four amazing kiddos ages 17, 12, 8 and 6. We are quite busy especially when you add 3 dogs and a cat to the mix!!

Mrs. F:
Hi!  I am Mrs. F and here are just a few things about myself.  This will be my second year teaching my own classroom but my fifth year working in some position in education.  I was a substitute and teacher's aide for three years before I was given the opportunity to teach my own classroom.  I love working with students and team teachers to mold and guide the minds of the future.  I have been married to my husband (we will call him J) for almost 11 years and I have a daughter (we will call her L) who is almost five years old.  I also have three little dogs (Molly the mini-rat, Charlie the chiweenie and Piper the Beagle) who are a big part of our family.

Mrs. L:
Hello! I am Mrs. L and I'll fill you in on a little bit about myself. This will be my second year teaching second grade. I really enjoy feeding young minds the knowledge they need to know in life. I want to be the person who makes a difference in student's lives. I have been married two years but we have known each other for 13 years. He is literally my best friend and I don't know how I could live without him. We have a daughter together who is 4 months old right now and it's amazing how she is learning at her young age. We also have a dog who is 8 years old and his name is Scooter. I love our family of four and how much support I get from my husband.

This is a picture we took together at a local corn maze and pumpkin patch in October.  We were being goofy but that's what second grade teachers do!  Our students thought it was awesome that we were taking a selfie.
